while surfin’ found a post overwritten something round google goes green, i found some interesting articles ’bout, but the more interesting for me was the possibility to save energy by design. a campaign of black googles, spread the web in case of save energy. i found some studies about that and can show ya one of the results. this guy had taken his watt-meter and just checked with two different screens…

as we already know, a google search costs that energy, an energysave fluorescent bulb 11W consumes in an hour. thats pretty much, but see the relations, how many servers google runs and thru how many switches your request will directed. 1000 W/h *SFr.0.19* / 11 = 90 questions you can ask google, but when the fee for the PCs really comes, how long it takes, till all services in the web have to be paid?!
